High Sierra Water Services
Safe Disposal of Class II Wastewater
Our experience and expertise are unparalleled and our safety record is impeccable when it comes to the proper disposal of your Class II wastewater. That means you never have to worry about it again. Our treatment process filters water down to 50 microns before we inject it nearly two miles into the earth, so everyone can rest assured that the waste created during drilling and production meets safe disposal regulations.
We’re also easy to get to from anywhere in the Denver-Julesburg Basin. High Sierra Water Services operates eight injection wells at seven facilities. The facilities are strategically located on or near major roads and highways throughout Weld County in the area with the highest levels of oil and gas production. Our multiple disposal sites provide customers greater flexibility and allow them to significantly reduce the trucking components of waste water disposal costs.
Water Recycling
High Sierra Water Services has been recycling Class II oilfield wastewater since May of 2010. We treat water that would otherwise be disposed in our injection wells. The recycled water can be used for stimulation, drilling, work over’s and kill fluids. We are currently able to recycle up to 5,000 barrels of water per day. The recycled water goes through many quality control tests before it is sold for reuse.
Virtually all of the TSS (Total Suspended Solids), bacteria and related iron sulfides (FeS) are removed from the water, resulting in near drinking water clarity. Iron, silica, barium and strontium are also reduced to very low levels. The water is then softened which reduces the calcium and magnesium levels by 65-80%. Total hardness is reduced by similar amounts. The scaling index of our water is routinely 0. The residual polyacrylamides and friction reducers added in the stimulation process are removed. The final product is a KCL substitute and has a neutral pH.
